VJH UVU Trip April 30

The 8th grade band will be going to UVU on April 30, 2013 for a festival.  We will be leaving early, so plan now.

Three Important Items

We have two trips left for this school year.

The JH Band Festival on April 30. The itinerary can be found here: UVU Trip 2012

The Region Concert Band trip to the State Band Festival on May 4. The tentative itinerary can be found here: State Band 2012 -If it changes I will put it here in the same place with a large note.-

The other item that needs to be brought to you attention is the first newsletter for the 2012 Marching Band. I’m sending a paper copy of this home today, but if you want to see it in color (or it doesn’t make it home) here it is: 2012MB_News_Letter_1

You can also see the new MB logo on the news letter. We actually are trying to choose between two and may use both. So here is the other one:

Upcoming Events

The next few weeks will be a bit busy. The Junior High and Middle School bands are all going to a festival at UVU on April 30. This will be a day trip, but a long day. Then the Friday of that week on May 4 the Region Concert Band will be going to State for the first time since 2003.

The End of the School year concerts will be MS: May 15 JH/HS: May 16 and Choirs: May 17

The Portraits are tonight through Saturday.

Flashlight sales will end soon.

Then Band Camp starts on May 29!

UV You days for music

Hello, my name is Whitney Olsen and I work at Utah Valley University. I wanted to let you know about a special event we have coming up for all high school students interested in music.

Every year my office organizes several UV You Days which are open to all students, parents, faculty, and counselors. During this event students receive essential information about their college major, and meet their future dean, professors, and advisors. UV You Days are free Saturday events and students will receive breakfast and lunch. The Music and Dance UV You Day will be held on Saturday, January 21st, 2011. I encourage you to invite your students to attend this event.

Along with other prizes, a $200 bookstore scholarship will be given away at every event! Also, if your student wears their FREE UVU t-shirt they can enter to win an ipad! To order their t-shirt and have it mailed to them before the event direct your students to http://www.uvu.edu/futurestudents There they will find a scrolling advertisement for this t-shirt.
